Design Lab

Welcome to Bel Aire Elementary School’s 3rd-5th Grade Design Lab Program!

Overview

The Design Lab Program is designed to ignite curiosity and foster a love for learning through hands-on experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) in students in 3rd-5th Grades. Students engage in dynamic, project-based learning that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Program Highlights

  1. Interactive Experiments: Students conduct exciting experiments to explore scientific concepts. From simple chemical reactions to exploring physical forces. These activities ensure that science is both fun and educational.

  2. Technology Exploration: Through coding activities, robotics, and digital design, students gain practical skills in technology. The curriculum includes age-appropriate tools and software that introduce young learners to the world of technology.

  3. Engineering Challenges: Students tackle engineering problems with hands-on projects. They build structures, design solutions to real-world problems, and develop teamwork skills through collaborative projects.

  4. Creative Arts Integration: Art and creativity are woven together throughout the program. Students engage in projects that blend artistic expression with engineering and technology, fostering a well-rounded approach to problem-solving.

  5. Mathematical Thinking: The program integrates math in a meaningful way, using real-world problems and data analysis to help students understand and appreciate mathematics beyond the classroom.

Learning Objectives

  • Critical Thinking: Students develop problem-solving skills through exploration and experimentation.

  • Creativity: Students practice innovative thinking by combining artistic and scientific approaches.

  • Collaboration: Students engage in teamwork through group projects and shared challenges.

  • Practical Skills: Students gain hands-on experience with technology, engineering principles, and scientific methods.
