The keynote presentation at the MacWord Expo is always an eventful moment, but this year, it wasn't delivered by Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. It was led by the famous New York Times tech guru and journalist, David Pogue. Known for his technology humor and Apple Computer insight, Pogue challenged his 1.5 MILLION Twitter followers to design a fake iPhone application.
Ms. Mustille, being a Pogue Twitter follower, submitted an entry with the help of a fellow ADE, and was chosen as a grand prize winner! She was notified that she was one of 10 finalists, and her entry was then broadcast live at the MacWorld SF Keynote on Thursday, February 11th.
Her fake iPhone app, Rogue Pogue, was made with a mix of GarageBand, iMovie and Adobe PhotoShop. To see the video, click the link listed here (Rogue Pogue is shown at about the 19 minute mark)
We are very proud of Ms. Mustille and her dedication to learning and showcasing cutting-edge software. Our students benefit daily from her tech knowledge, and she shines everyday as a positive role model by making tech "cool" for students. Congratulations!
Students who met or exceeded their grade-level goals received an AR certificate and a golden ticket to choose a prize on Tuesday.
Individual goals for the third trimester will be announced soon!

Phoebe Hearst Awards!
Each year, PTA honors one teacher in our District with the Phoebe Hearst Outstanding Educator Award. The winner receives a $500 grant from RUSD PTA and his/her name on a plaque that is displayed in the Superintendent's office. The historical award recognizes professional excellence and extraordinary personal commitment by an educator. The award will be given to the teacher who wins at a ceremony on May 20, 2010. Excerpts from all parent recommendations for EVERY teacher nominated will be read at this ceremony. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all of the many caring and outstanding teachers in our district.
In this spirit, I encourage all the parents of the District to submit recommendations for this prestigious award.
Criteria include: teacher's relationship with the student, excellent teaching and class management skills, ability to create enthusiasm about learning, responsiveness to parent's needs and concerns, and "going the extra mile" for the student.
A recommendation does not need to be lengthy, formal or complex. A few sentences will suffice.
You may nominate more than one teacher and I encourage you to do so.
Please do not forget our wonderful specialists.
Letters or emails can be sent to:
kellyscannell@pacbell.net or mailed to 1 Acela Dr Tiburon CA 94920
Once again, Chris Carter will read an excerpt from EVERY teacher nominated, so please take a moment to recognize all of the teachers that make a difference in our children's lives.
Letters must be received by April 9, 2010.
Thank you for taking this time,
Kelly Scannell
PTA President
