Don't forget the rules for Bel Aire Student blog posts:
- Complete
Paragraphs – all ¶ rules apply. Remember to re-read and edit your thoughts before you click “POST.”
- Full
Sentences – no fragments or run-on sentences.
Make sure your sentences have both a subject and a verb.
- Correct
Punctuation – periods, commas, apostrophes, quotation marks, etc. Use one space between words and treat punctuation symbols like letters.
- Correct
Spelling– there is NO SPELL CHECK in the comment box! Use your laptop’s Dictionary application or a paper dictionary for
reference.
- Verb
Tense & Word Choices – be consistent. Double check past/present/future use of verbs/homophones, ie:
their/there
- No
Idioms – not all international readers understand American idioms.
- No
Plagiarism – no copying/pasting from others comments.
Consequences can be a failing grade and future distrust from classmates.
- No
“Me too” or “I agree with so-in-so.” – be unique.
These comments show a lack of interest in the subject and effort in writing.
- No
assumptions – do not assume the reader has any background knowledge of
your comments or ideas – explain yourself with supporting details!
- No
names of students –
use your “handle” instead… ie: 9everett
This will protect your online presence, and at the same time, will not distract other students who still need to post to the same blog question.
